I have always been a visual learner. I need color, images, words, etc. for things to stick in my brain. My entire life I have always had color coded planners with stickers and post its to keep me organized. It is something I genuinely enjoy and it holds me accountable. Setting goals isn’t any different. I need visuals of my dreams and the things I want in life to be able to attain them. So yes, Pinterest is my best friend and I have a board from everything to how I want to decorate my non existing apartment, to party decor ideas without even having an occasion, a food board filled with recipes that I never actually cook, and even a board for future dog options for when I live on my own and start adulthood.
Every new year I set new goals for myself. I look back on the year before and reflect on everything I accomplished and everything I need to work on. It is important to remember we are all humans and sometimes we won’t accomplish everything on our list. That is totally fine! What is most important is that we are doing little things every day to help us accomplish our long term goals.
This year my sister and I created an actual mood board of our 2019 goals and dreams with magazines, scissors, and glue (very old school lol.) I hadn’t done this in a very long time, but it was a lot of fun to sit down and create a visual of what I want this new year for myself and everyone I love. It was fun, creative, and actually turned out pretty cool! I loved it so much that I even brought it to my apartment in Gainesville and placed it right on top of my desk so I can look at it for motivation every time I am working.
I filled it with images of places I want to visit, things I want to do, words filled with motivation, things I want to get, reminders to treat myself once in a while, love unconditionally and always keep an open mind. Looking at it makes me extremely happy and I hope to continue doing it every year!
